C5 – TURKEY

Kemalpaşa Ferzent Bulum Anadolu Lisesi, Izmir, Turkey was established in 1951 but it has no experience in EU projects even if it has a lot of success in local, regional and national projects. Over 1200 students aged 15-19 attend the school, guided by a teaching staff of 60 members.

The main form of education is represented by full-time courses (4 years) in the departments of social sciences, sciences and foreign languages and the main aim of the school is to prepare students for university education, as we have a very difficult university entry exam.

We are a young and ambitious group of teachers ready to learn and share experiences. We would love to improve ourselves mainly based on creativity, culture, art, nature and environmental awareness, intercultural dialogue, European awareness, research, democracy, active participation, tolerance, inclusion, information, informal education and voluntary work. We believe that international experience, cultural interaction and exchange of experiences are some of the most important and most effective drivers for personal development and they significantly broaden the horizons of young people and open up a wider view for their future development. During the mobility in the country they can prepare creative workshops for all, lovely work team, opened to changes and a new vision of education.

The school is situated in a city with a lot of touristic opportunities and attractions, with a lot of possibilities of traveling, sports, nature, culture, history etc. The school has some drawbacks as well: most of the families have financial problems so students can’t afford to take part in some activities. The school is particularly successful in sports and arts.

The other partners will analyse our system and will bring the good practices into their school. Participants in the project are teachers who teach different subjects and in different classes and are employed by the school staff. The main selection criteria were that all participants to be English speakers, to have professional and personal ethic experience, morality and they are willing to participate in project activities.

Participants have experience and skills in working with young people and vocational guidance/encouragement, motivation in personal development and self-discovery activities; have assertive communication skills in working with young people to get them to open up and ask for support, worked with parents, educators and collaborators for various educational institutions and universities, have different specialized publications, a good reputation through their colleagues and they worked in team for a long time.

Ahmet Fırat is the teacher of English with 14 years experience in LPP and Erasmus+ projects. He has written and implemented more than 20 projects in these years. Abdulvahap Karabulak is also a teacher of English and ICT. He is experienced in software and coding.
